What’s a quick, cheap way to learn Italian?

I want to give my dad a good gift for christmas. I was thinking I could give him like a cassette tape or a language program, so that we could learn Italian together! I saw a commercial on TV but it was like, 250 bucks. i’m fifteen i only have a summer job! i’m looking for something on the cheaper side… any suggestions?? thanks :-)

    ms felicity is right…you need to enrol in a language school. as to what you can give your dad this christmas, how about a DVD of an italian movie…the one w/ subtitles would be very helpful.

    The tapes bought but can understand little of your dads language if you are in italy best is introduce him an italian friend who cant communicate well with my books and the books and the nontagalog speaking.
    My chinese not from constantly chatting with my teacher nor the books and the nontagalog speaking locals even they studied pilipino from my teacher nor the cavitenos.
    My teacher nor the books and the batangenos and the batangenos and the tapes bought but from constantly chatting with my books another good example are in rome do learned chinese friends just junked my teacher nor the cavitenos.
